What is collected

This site has no accounts, no sign-up, no comments and no newsletter. The only form is the search box in the header, and it looks the word up in your browser from static index files instead of sending it anywhere to be stored. Visitors are not profiled, and no visitor data is sold or shared.

Cookies and local storage

No page, script or style here sets a cookie, and nothing is written to local storage or session storage. The search box caches index files from this domain in memory while the tab is open, and forgets them when it closes.

Cloudflare can set a security cookie when it challenges a request it reads as automated. That cookie comes from Cloudflare's own protection layer, not from this site, and is described in its privacy policy.

Analytics and third-party scripts

There is no analytics of any kind: no Google Analytics, no Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon, no tag manager and no advertising script. Every script and stylesheet is served from this domain, and both fonts are self-hosted files, so opening a page makes no request to another company's server.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which delivers each request and protects the site from abuse. Cloudflare therefore processes request data such as the IP address, the requested URL, the browser's user-agent string and the time of the request. That processing is described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. This site keeps no separate copy of those logs and does not combine them with anything else.

If JavaScript is disabled, the search box falls back to a normal form submission, so the word appears in the address of a page request that Cloudflare delivers like any other.

Entry data

The entry text is built from Wiktionary, through the kaikki.org extraction, and is used under CC BY-SA 4.0. It describes words, not visitors. Sources and licences are listed on the attribution page.

Advertising

No advertising is served on this site, and the file at /ads.txt states the same. If ads are introduced later, this page will be updated before any ad script is added, and consent will be collected where the law requires it.
